Mark Knee scored twice and made another as Worthing gained their first win in five division one south games with a 4-2 success as Walton and Hersham.

Knee, who has now scored nine times this season, put Rebels on their way by heading home a Florian Mateos cross at the near post on 22 minutes.

The lead was doubled five minutes later when Steve Sargent passed to Ben Carrington in the inside right position and he beat keeper Lawrence Batty with a shot from eight yards.

Frenchman Mateos hit his first goal for Worthing nine minutes after the break with a left foot shot from 15 yards following a pass by Knee.

Alan Dowson replied for the hosts but Knee struck again six minutes later by leaping unchallenged to head home Wesley Lopez's cross from the left.

Paul Harkness scored the Surrey side's second goal from close range nine minutes from time.

Lewes dropped points against a very average side with a 1-1 draw away to Banstead in a match played in atrocious conditions.

The Rooks could have taken the lead as early as two minutes when good work between Lee Newman and Germain Amanuel saw the latter force a good save from goalkeeper Tommy Dunn.

However, from a quick free kick in the 20th minute, Graham Harper crossed for Julian Curnow to head home the opener.

Seven minutes later Rooks defender Stuart Hack cleared the ball off the line from a Wayne Finnie header following a corner by former Albion player Robert Codner.

Banstead equalised on 57 minutes when a shot from Finnie found its way through a crowd of players.

Horsham fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Egham Town.

Hornets were unlucky not to take the lead on 11 minutes when a Rob Collins shot was cleared off the line.

Egham went close on the half hour when Micky Stewart forced a good save from Ian Chatfield but Horsham responded with Lee Carney just failing to connect with a Dave Flemming cross.

The only goal came on 57 minutes when Matt Edwards broke down the right and slotted past the approaching Chatfield.

Bognor had the better chances throughout but had to settle for a 0-0 draw at home to Leatherhead.

Played in a strong wind and driving rain, Rocks created a number of chances with Richard Hudson, Nicky Wyatt and David Birmingham at the heart of matters but they could not find a breakthrough.

Manager Jack Pearce said: "Unfortunately that was two points lost at home. When you dominate territorally you expect to get something more than just a point, however our finishing and final approach needs improvement all round."
