A Crawley man is among five people charged in connection with a police investigation into a Thai prostitution ring.

Tangnon Watson, 40, of Sandown Court, Newbury Road, Crawley, has been charged with two counts of controlling prostitution.

Two more men were arrested on suspicion of living on immoral earnings.

The pair, one a 46-year-old arrested in Crawley, have been bailed to return at a later date pending further inquiries.

Police conducted dawn raids on Tuesday at addresses in London, Surrey, Sussex, Essex and Middlesex.

They raided nine brothels believed to be connected to the ring following a nine-month operation by Scotland Yard's clubs and vice unit.

Officers also detained 32 Thai girls suspected of working as prostitutes.

Joy Ruanjit, 27, of Malden Way, New Malden, Surrey, was charged with two counts of controlling prostitution and three of aiding and abetting prostitution-related offences.

Bubpha Savada, 46, of Aintree Avenue, East Ham, London, and Monporn Hughes, 24, of Sevenoaks Road, Borough Green, Kent, were each charged with ten counts of controlling prostitution.

Pathiranage Ranasinnghe, 33, of Aintree Avenue, East Ham, was charged with ten counts of living on the immoral earnings of prostitution.

A 34-year-old man arrested in Essex on suspicion of living on the immoral earnings of prostitution, has been bailed to appear at a London police station on October 15.
