I find from my own experience the statement that the Conservative Party will care for vulnerable people totally unbelievable.
I had to wait for spinal surgery for eight years. When I eventually reached the top of the list, arthritis had set in to such an extent the operation would have put me in a wheelchair for the rest of my life.
Eventually, my condition caused my early retirement. Disabled benefit was essential. However, my political masters took that away and I was lucky to get it back again.
Later, my eldest son wanted his future bride from the Philippines to come to visit so she could see what kind of country and climate we have. The visa was refused on highly dubious grounds so we appealed.
After 18 months, the appeal was heard and the Foreign Office admitted the original refusal was not justified but would not defend its position before the adjudicator.
In the circumstances, my attitude to the Conservative Party is coloured by very personal experience.
