I live in Norfolk Square, Brighton, which has been taken over these past few months by drunks.

Brighton and Hove City Council spent a fortune last year redesigning the square but it is most unusual to see an ordinary member of the public sitting in it now.

The drunks arrive, often as early as 8.30am, and sit in large groups using the foulest of language and urinating publicly.

I have called the police but they say they can do nothing as these people have not committed any offence.

It seems the police have no power to do anything these days.

Meanwhile, all I do is pray for rain so maybe, for a couple of days, I won't have to listen to people who make this lovely square a nightmare to live in.
