It was with some amazement I read the story "Cafe man's fight for parking permit" (The Argus, September 9).
As a fellow trader in Brighton Road, Worthing, I am fully aware of the parking restrictions in the area and find the claims by Simon Lawrence that he is unable to park near his cafe quite incredible.
Within three minutes' walking distance from his premises are two large open-air car parks which, if he purchases a quarterly permit, he can use for the princely sum of 99p a day.
In the roads on either side of his premises are free parking spaces ranging from 20 minutes to two hours' duration.
Within two minutes' walking distance are roads with all-day free parking with the exception of the hours 10-11am and 2-3pm.
The parking restrictions work well and give shoppers the chance to find ample parking and traders to make and receive deliveries.
Come on, Simon, make an effort. Try walking for three minutes to your vehicle and don't expect to park right outside your premises every time.
