The Enterprise Agency for Brighton, Hove and Lewes has launched a programme for people starting their own businesses.

It offers small firms the chance to learn from each other in a scheme already utilised by companies such as Ericsson and BT.

Next month, a group of the agency's clients with the highest potential will have the opportunity to meet for an intensive six hours of exploration of business challenges and to work together on solutions.

The meetings will give the chance for the group to focus on the concerns of each participant.

After each debate, actions are set by the agency to be reported on at the next meeting.

Action Learning is also intended to provide fresh insights into professional and personal development The concept was first brought to the agency by Paul Levy, a senior research fellow at Brighton University and owner/ manager of Cats3000.

The agency's chief executive Jane North said the project was part of the agency's plans to expand its work with highgrowth entrepreneurs.

She said: "This programme affords business people a unique way of learning while doing."
