A bundle of papers was set alight at the back of a church in Eastbourne.
The pile of Friday Ads was left on grass near Christ Church, Hanover Road, at 2.45am today.
The church was not damaged but the fire was believed to be deliberate.
Vandals set fire to rubbish piled high in a skip.
Eastbourne firefighters were called to the blaze at the back of the catalogue shop Argos, Lottbridge Drove, at 1.30am this morning. No one was injured.
