Mountfield are the new Seaford Tournament champions of the Sussex Association.

In the first all-East Division final in the 45-year history of the event, they beat defending champions Stone Cross on the Salts ground.

Batting first, Mountfield amassed 92 in their eight overs with Sandra Dewarte hitting 27, and some erratic bowling from the Stone Cross bowlers conceding 25 extras.

Stone Cross looked to be well on target at 24-0 after two overs, but then Barbara Jenner, who had been in scintillating form all day, grabbed two wickets in two balls to turn the match around.

Stone Cross never recovered and were sent crashing to 61 all out, with Jenner ending with figures of 6-33.

Mountfield had earlier had the favourites, West Division champions Angmering, reeling in the second round.

Again Jenner, with figures of 4-30, helped restrict Ang-mering to 63, and Mountfield won with an over to spare.

In the semi-final, Mountfield beat Ashington, with Jenner taking 5-29.

Chasing 71 for victory, they got home with two balls to spare, thanks chiefly to Dewarte's 26.

Stone Cross beat Mid Division champions Ringmer.
