Albion boss Martin Hinshelwood has admitted he is interested in signing former Wimbledon defender Andy Roberts, but he will not face Burnley on Saturday.
Roberts impressed in Tuesday night's friendly defeat by St Leonards and Hinshelwood was due to meet him today to discuss his future.
But the 28-year-old will not feature in the Seagulls' opening Division One encounter, as Hinshelwood feels he is not fit enough to be pitched straight in.
He said: "Andy has done okay and did what he had to do.
"At the moment he's not fit enough to play league football, but we'll have a chat and see where we go from there."
