Having lived in Brighton for almost 15 years and, having read The Argus letters page for about the same time, I feel able to make the following suggestions to future correspondents:

1) Criticise everything about Brighton, without explaining why, if everything is so awful, you have not moved elsewhere or why so many other people want to move here.

2) Blame the council for everything. It is obvious house-price inflation is to do with city of culture bids rather than a regional phenomenon.

3) Oppose all developments. Nothing new can be good and the idea that contrast can be a positive thing should be fought against at all costs.

4) Do not say anything positive. For example, I should not mention that a couple from Barcelona told me, given the chance, they would prefer to live in Brighton.

I hope this helps future contributors but other additions to this list are welcome.
