Before Nigel Donovan (Letters, July 19) writes about educating anyone, he should get his brain in gear and realise the things he wrote were stupid.

We have no privacy, dignity or freedom now because we have checks on phone, gas and electricity bills, bank statements, driving licences, mortgages and other things.

We have been watched for years. All I was saying was pensioners must not be made to pay for our IDs, nothing more.

I can only assume Mr Donovan has some sort of serious problem about carrying one.
