Injury-hit Sussex have called up 19-year-old Chris Nash to their squad for the Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston tomorrow.

The 20-year-old off-spinner from Horsham could make a shock debut because Mark Davis has been ruled out for two weeks after he broke his left hand in the innings win over Somerset at the weekend.

The county have also added Bas Zuiderent and Mark Robinson to the squad on duty at Taunton.

Skipper Chris Adams remains a big doubt while he recovers from a calf strain while Michael Yardy has joined a lengthening injury list after straining his knee ligaments. He will also be missing for a fortnight.

Sussex are already without vice-captain James Kirtley because of a broken hand while Paul Hutchison will continue his comeback from shin splints in the second team game against Hampshire which starts at Hove today (11am). Kevin Innes (groin) and Matt Prior (bruised hands) are fit despite knocks.

Nash, who is studying at Loughborough University, made his second team debut in 2000 and helped his club Horsham win the Sussex League last season.

Coach Peter Moores said: "We'll make a decision after we look at the wicket. Edgbaston tends to be dead flat or a minefield.

"Chris also bats so he will balance the side up, but we are covering all our options really."

Moores believes two more wins will secure Sussex's Division One status for another season after their weekend win lifted them into joint second place.
