St Matthias produced one of their best performances of the season to beat high-flying Three Bridges III in the West Sussex League.

Mid-table Saints, who only had ten men and were missing opening bowler Robert Sherlock, were set an intimidating target by second-placed Bridges who closed on 228 all out.

John Gray hit 63 and Richard Jenner (50) batted well for the home side, Simon King took four wickets for St Matthias.

In reply, Niall Smith (43) and Steve Mander (67) gave Saints a good start and Paul Hornby hit the winning runs.

Skipper Colin Allen said: "Our away form has been excellent, we have won all our matches away but we can't win at home."

West Blatchington got their title challenge back on track by beating Palmers by two wickets.

Palmers were restricted to 148-9 as Jig Agnihotri took 4-30 and Narleen again bowled tightly, taking 2-14 in his ten overs.

Blatch got off to a flyer and were coasting at 105-1, with Stuart Warne making 39.

Palmers fought back and took eight wickets for just 25 runs before Robert Stickland saw Blatchington through with an unbeaten 36.

Stickland said: "I couldn't believe some of the shots our batsman were playing, they were trying to win it in one over."

Blatch host second-placed Crawley Eagles this weekend and the visitors must not lose to maintain their championship ambitions.

Eagles remain second following their 24-run win at home to Lancing Manor. Eagles batted first and were all out for 189, Tayub hit 69. In reply, Manor were dismissed for 37.

Middleton are fourth following an exciting home win over Worthing Chippingdale. Brandon Hanley scored 65 to help Middleton to 220-5 and the visitors were all out for 202 in reply.

Hove Medina are in danger of being relegated after crashing to their seventh defeat of the season.

Medina batted first against Ram in Crawley and made 261-3, featuring a club record partnership of 176 for the first wicket between Neil Soffe (88) and Jim Downey (100).

Ram scored 262-8 to leave the visitors shellshocked. Tarun hit 62 and Danny 36.

Dome Mission won at Findon III in a high-scoring match and remain eighth. Mission made 248-6, Andy Buteress top scoring on 88. Tom Pattinson took 3-41 and then starred with the bat scoring 93 but it was not enough for the home team who finished on 201-8.

Patcham in seventh are the side Mission are trying to catch. The Brighton side have a 28-point lead over Mission after a convincing win against lowly Chichester Priory III.

Priory were all out for 190 despite knocks from John Grady (60), Andy Barnes (46) and Nick Jones (45). Simon Forest took 5-39.

Patcham were 194-5 thanks to Nigel Addison (53) and Brian Huffer (61).
