Some of the fastest vehicles in the world will be put through their paces at a garden party for car enthusiasts.

Lord March will stage a tribute to the heroes of drag racing during the Festival of Speed in July.

More than 25 dragsters will go on display in the grounds of Goodwood House, his ancestral home near Chichester.

Another six cars will take part in a hill climb against the clock in the festival, which features hundreds of the world's quickest and most expensive cars.

Competitors will include drag racing ace Sue Jackson, whose Corvette can reach 150mph in just nine seconds.

Lord March said: "We will be celebrating the history of drag racing with the most important collection of historic and modern dragsters ever assembled in one place."

The festival, which runs from July 12 to 14, has also attracted several Formula One racing teams.

Drivers will range from today's stars, such as Jenson Button, to heroes from the past like Sir Stirling Moss.
