Macedonian pianist Simon Trpceski is a piano player to watch and you're probably never going to hear him at these modest prices again.

He jumped to fame last year when he took second place in the world piano competition in London and he will soon be issuing his first CD on EMI.

He sits hunched over his instrument and caresses the keyboard like a lover.

He can be muscular when necessary but delicate and subtle most of all and deft and supple in the extreme.

This man has a phenomenal, not to say dazzling, technique which he demonstrated to the full in Brahm's Schumann Variations, Chopin's Sonata No 2 and the same composer's third and fourth scherzos.

His fingers fly over the keyboard and you cannot believe he is actually pressing the notes. This is superb music making.
