Sussex coach Peter Moores has challenged Jason Lewry to stake a claim for a regular place in their one-day team.

Lewry is a permanent fixture in Sussex's Championship side, but he has played just 11 limited overs games in the last three years.

The left-armer is included in the squad for tomorrow's C&G Trophy third round tie against Buckinghamshire at Beaconsfield (10.45) and Moores says the onus is on Lewry to start pushing for a regular slot in the one-day side.

Moores said: "We know that Jason is one of the best strike bowlers around in four-day cricket, but there are different disciplines in one-day cricket.

"Our seamers have done really well in limited overs this season and it must be frustrating for Jason that he can't force his way in.

"But the opportunities are going to be there for him sooner or later and I hope he shows the enthusiasm and willingness to take them because he can be a matchwinner for us in one-day cricket."

Lewry may have to wait a bit longer for his chance. Sussex will finalise their line-up after training at Beaconsfield this afternoon, but it looks likely that they will stick with the team beaten by Warwickshire in last week's Benson and Hedges Cup semi-final.

Skipper Chris Adams is still ruled out by knee and shoulder injuries and only has a small chance of returning for Friday's Lewry may get chance to stake his claim Sussex coach Peter Moores has challenged Jason Lewry to stake a claim for a regular place in their one-day team.
