I have little sympathy with Sarah Launchbury (Letters, May 22), who complained about being clamped in the car park at Brighton Marina because she had "inadvertently" parked in a disabled bay.

The bays are clearly marked.

I wonder what the excuses of the other car drivers were? Let me offer a few of the ones that have been given to me, a genuine disabled driver.

"I have a right to park here because I have a child in a pushchair." "There are plenty of other spaces." "I'm only here for a few minutes." "I'm waiting for someone." "I left my badge at home." "So what? I don't care." Add to that shouted abuse and the one-fingered salute.

I generally find people are helpful when I am out in my wheelchair but if the last parking space is for disabled badge-holders only, those words count for nothing.
