David Rogers was concerned by many of the pro-Falmer stadium comments being made by those from outside the area (Letters, May 4).

Although I have been exiled from Brighton and Hove for 15 years, I spend every other weekend during the football season within the city (I am a season ticket-holder), probably assisting the local economy far more than Mr Rogers could ever hope to by way of money spent on hotels, food, drink and other leisure activities while in the area.

As Mr Rogers rightly points out, there are many fans who live outside Brighton and Hove who will have supported the campaign for a new community stadium but they, too, will also be making a significant contribution to the local economy and therefore have a right to make comments on proposals that will directly affect them.

As a city renowned for its tourist attractions and needing only a community stadium to enhance its position as the number-one seaside resort, surely Mr Rogers cannot believe we can survive without interest from outside our city boundaries? Everybody's view is important.
