One cannot tell from an email address whether J and D Freeman (Letters, April 30) live in the Brighton area. It would seem not. If they do, they should surely be aware that, seven years ago, Brighton and Hove City Council carried out an in-depth survey of 16 potential sites for a stadium, including Waterhall and Newhaven. Two years later, the football club, taking this information into account, narrowed these locations down to five. Of those, Falmer was identified as the only one that fulfilled all the necessary criteria.

On the letters page we have recently seen a misleading photomontage of the stadium and now we have a photo of Waterhall, with the letter writers telling us, as far as this site is concerned, "there seem to be no protesters". That's simply because no one has seriously suggested a

stadium could be built there.

Using the same argument, you could make a case for the stadium being on the Pavilion lawns. After all, no one has protested against it being there.
