There is yet another planning application for a mobile phone mast in Blackboys, this time on the Blackboys nursery site.

Last year, an application for a mast was successfully rejected on the grounds it was an eyesore and too close to residents of the village, including small children.

This second application takes the form of a plastic tree - rather funny to put on the site of a garden nursery.

It is bigger and in virtually the same position as the first application. A petition of more than 120 signatures has been given to the owners of the nursery to try to convince them to change their minds about agreeing to have this mast on their site. However, the financial gain to them would be significant.

These masts are not proven safe and, in other areas of the country, councils have stipulated a 500 metre boundary between a mast and residents. This is what we need in East Sussex.

Please voice your local support by writing before May 6, to: Mr A J Brown, District Planning Officer, Planning Department, Wealden District Council, Council Offices.
