East Grinstead and East Preston will play for a place in the County League first division on Saturday.

Both teams won last night to set up a promotion decider at East Court. Grinstead have to win to overtake their rivals who only need a draw.

Grinstead beat Lancing 3-1 last night thanks to well-taken goals by Ben Burns, his 17th of the season, Phil Thompson and Kris Trevor. Glenn Souter got a late consolation for the visitors.

East Preston had a routine 3-0 home win over Oving with goals from Lee Farrell (two) and Matt Huckett.

Grinstead boss Bob Smith said "It was a tense occasion but we played very well once we'd scored. It all sets it up for a tremendous climax at our place on Saturday."

Champions Rye and Iden United lost 2-1 at Wealden where Lee Sale hit a late winner.

In division one, Sidlesham took a huge step to survival with a 3-1 victory over champions Burgess Hill in their final game of the season.

The result lifts Sidlesham above Southwick Redhill, and they can now only be caught by Eastbourne United who must win all three of their remaining fixtures.

Craig Williams came off the substitutes' bench to score twice for Sidlesham after David Towers had put them ahead. Richard Carter replied with a penalty for the Hillians.

Sidlesham boss Richard Towers said: "We are almost there.

"We worked really hard throughout and let's just hope it keeps us in division one for next season."
