While on holiday in the Isle of Man last year, I saw a notice on all traffic signals that it was an offence from July 1 to use a mobile phone while driving on the island.
They often adopt new laws while we are still talking about them.
They also gave islanders older than 75 years free television licences from April 2001 instead of October, as was the case here.
