A prep school is to offer a series of scholarships as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Arundale School in Pulborough, which has more than 100 pupils aged from two to 11, first opened its doors in 1953.
As it approaches its 50th anniversary year, the school's governors have decided to offer scholarships to local children with potential.
The deal could mean up to 50 per cent off fees for successful candidates.
Scholarships in academic subjects will be available to children aged from seven to eight and from nine to ten from September. Other scholarships will be available in art, PE and music, as well as for those who show all-round potential.
Headteacher Kaye Lovejoy said: "Arundale prides itself on its enthusiasm, encouragement and excellence and offers all its pupils the best possible start in life.
"We have decided to offer these scholarships in our Golden Jubilee year to encourage more local people to consider the advantages of independent education."
Six students, who are due to leave the school this summer, have been offered scholarships to continue their studies at other schools and colleges.
