Komedia will be opening its doors and offering visitors the opportunity to look around the venue and watch some shows.

As well as music, theatre and children's performances, the open day will give people the chance to find out more about Komedia's programme during the Brighton Festival.

Percolator, a street performance based around the interaction of five customers in a cafe, will take place at Curve's terrace at noon.

There will be music from flamenco band Candela, who will be performing with authentic flamenco dancer Raoul in the cabaret bar from 12.30pm.

Geoff Robb will be playing classical Spanish guitar outside the venue at 12.30pm. Meanwhile, six-piece band Tragic Roundabout will be playing world music along Gardner Street from 1pm.

In addition, Brandon Rice will be holding percussion workshops on the theatre stage at 12.30pm and 1.30pm for children aged six and over. Children will need to book a place with a member of staff on the day.

Youngsters should also enjoy a performance of The Giant Pop-Up Book, which takes place at 12.15am in the theatre bar.

Meanwhile, Newhaven Yacht Club in Fort Road and Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club, Marine Parade, are also hosting open days on April 20.

Newhaven Yacht Club's clubhouse will be open for various displays while Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club will be hosting a number of sailing events.

Piddinghoe Lake will also be open for free taster sessions, which include dinghy sailing and windsurfing. For more information, call 01273 589849.

If inter-galactic worlds, spy movies and classic TV series are more your thing, you might want to make your way down to the Brighton Centre on Sunday, where a film memorabilia, sci-fi and TV collectors fair is taking place.

Movie fans should love the scores of stalls, specialising in film stills, posters, autographs, soundtracks, toys and comics among others, that will be on display.

The event runs from 11am to 4pm and tickets cost £2.50 (50p children).
