An apprentice bricklayer has walked away with a top prize for his skills.
Tom Haddon, 18, of Vicarage Lane, Eastbourne, won tools, trophies and certificates after being named Guild of Bricklayers' Southern Junior Champion.
He had to build a wall ten bricks high in six hours.
Tom beat eight other finalists from around the South-East in the competition, at Highbury College, Portsmouth.
He attends South Downs College in Eastbourne one day a week as part of a bricklaying apprenticeship.
Tom, who works for his uncle at construction company Peter Rushbridge, said: "He was in hospital so I had to ring and tell him."
