A husband has been jailed for eight years for killing his wife in a drunken row.
Frances Gould, 44, phoned police as she lay with blood streaming from a gash to her head.
Her husband Richard, 37, was arrested by officers who arrived at the couple's terraced home in Hale Close, Bracklesham Bay, near Chichester.
At interview, he told them he had been sleeping upstairs with their three children when his wife accidentally slipped in the bath.
Two days later, she died in hospital from a blood clot on her brain.
A jury at Lewes Crown Court found Gould not guilty of murder but convicted him on the lesser charge of manslaughter yesterday.
During the trial, neighbours told of the pair's frequent drunken arguments which led to their final row on October 12.
Relatives were too upset to comment after sentence was passed yesterday afternoon.
