An MP has called for an urgent meeting with bosses of a factory due to close.

At least 90 jobs would be lost if the factory moves out of the town.

Nigel Waterson, who represents Eastbourne, expressed his concern at the closing of Acco UK, formerly Nobo UK, in Alder Close, Eastbourne.

He said: "It would be the end of an era if Acco UK were to leave the town.

"The company was born here and is very much part of the business community."

Mr Waterson said he would try to persuade bosses not to move the factory, which makes office equipment, to Peterborough.

He said: "I'm going to try to persuade them to stay, although I don't hold out a lot of hope and it may be another example of companies pulling out of Eastbourne because of the poor road system.

"It doesn't just affect the people who will lose their jobs but their families as well."

The company announced last week it will move out of Eastbourne in May.

In the Eighties, Nobo UK sponsored Brighton and Hove Albion.
