If Canon McKittrick (The Argus, April 11) believes the power of prayer promoted the Albion, it would seem Halifax supporters haven't spent enough time on their knees.
Of course, he is not alone in his quaint belief. I am surprised Tony Blair hasn't ordained a Day of National Intercessions for David Beckham's recovery with non-stop services in Westminister Abbey presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
With the imminent threat of war in the Middle East, half the world on the brink of starvation, religious turmoil in India and the possibility of global obliteration by an asteroid hurtling towards us, the Almighty has too much on his plate to bother about Beckham's left foot.
