Protesters in Hampden Park today launched a petition against plans to relocate a 24-hour lorry park near their homes.
The park could be moved from its present location in Wartling Road, Eastbourne, to land between Sainsbury's and the David Lloyd Club, Hampden Park.
Residents in Brand Road and Roseberry Avenue have banded together against the proposal, part of the Borough Plan.
Maureen Hamilton, of Brand Road, said: "When Sainsbury's was being built they had to make sure it was an environmentally friendly building and we feel whatever that piece of land is to be used for, a lorry park is just unacceptable.
"It would downgrade the area. They may dress it up with fences but it would be open 24 hours a day."
An inquiry into the Borough Plan takes place on June 11 and the neighbours intend to present the petition to councillors and officers.
