Hastings Town's promotion celebrations were put on ice as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat away to Dartford.

The leaders still need a point from their last two matches to be sure of going up from the Dr Martens League eastern division.

Hastings made a lively start but the closest they came to grabbing an early goal was a Steve Yates 20-yard drive which cleared the crossbar.

Dartford soon began to cause problems and only good goalkeeping by Dave King prevented Paul McCarthy from opening the scoring.

King had no chance on 38 minutes though, when a free kick picked out Richard Usherwood who slotted home from close range.

Hastings responded by laying seige to the Dartford goal. Chris Honey, Stuart Playford and Adam Flanagan all went close and the pattern continued after half time but the home goal led something of a charmed life.

Usherwood claimed his second with a cool finish on 62 minutes and soon after McCarthy scored from close range to make it 3-0.

Hastings were reduced to ten men when Duncan McArthur was sent off for pushing over Tom Adlington.

Seconds later Landry Zahana-Oni shot home for a late consolation.

Goals from Matt Allen and John Westcott gave Eastbourne Borough a 2-1 win over Banbury United at Priory Lane.

It was a game that really meant nothing to both sides and it showed in the first half where the action could have been written on the back of a postage stamp.

Borough produced the only chances and visiting keeper Simon Tricker did well to deny good efforts from Dave Adams and Allen.

John Scarborough also went close with a header before he had to be carried off at the beginning of the second half after a clash of heads.

His replacement Andy Walker made an immediate impact, setting up the goal that deservedly gave Borough the lead in the 65th minute.

His low cross was converted by Allen from six yards.

On 83 minutes, Borough sealed the win thanks to Westcott.

The winger was put through down the right and his cross deceived keeper Tricker and floated into the back of the net.

Three minutes later Banbury surprisingly pulled a goal back through Matt Gooderick who curled past Paul Stark from 18 yards.

But it was too little too late for Banbury and Borough deservedly took the points.
