Nick Nurse believes his Brighton Bears can seek their fortune overseas after taking the club to the BBL final four.

But he admits he would love to see them all back next season to renew their bid for silverware.

Most of Nurse's squad are flying back to the United States this week after bowing out of the play-offs to Chester Jets.

Skipper Randy Duck still has two years to run on his contract but the rest are free to seek new clubs.

Some may be tempted by European Leagues, which offer the lure of greater financial rewards than in the BBL.

Mike Brown would be an obvious example having secured a British passport, which gives him a free choice of EU nations.

Coach Nurse, who met with his squad yesterday, said: "If I had my way I would bring this whole team back. It's the first time I've had a team where I don't dislike anybody.

"I like them all in their own way and that has never been the case for me. There is usually a couple of guys I can't wait to see the back of.

"The reality is that it could be Duck back and everyone else new or we could keep some guys.

"Davis, White, Brown, Farrington and Johnson are all good enough to play elsewhere.

"They need to see if they can go elsewhere and make a heck of a lot more money. I will give them that opportunity but I will keep their jobs open for them for a while."

Player-of-the year Sterling Davis added: "I have already told Nick I wouldn't mind playing for him again but I've no idea what will happen."

Nurse hopes a trip to Dublin can help ease his frustrations at missing out on Wembley.

He revealed: "I'm going to watch the United States give Ireland a good beating at football, drink a few pints of Guinness and drown my sorrows."

Sean Hampton fired 50 points for Worthing Thunder, then set his sights on a south coast shoot out with Solent in the play-offs.

Hampton led the way as Thunder ended their NBL Conference season in spectactular style with a 124-100 home win over Sutton.

It was not enough to clinch fifth place as Manchester beat Solent but Hampton believes Worthing can turn that to their advantage for the quarter-finals, which start at Durrington next Saturday.

He said: "This game was just what we needed ahead of the play-offs. We have got the momentum, Solent are coming in on a loss and we need to get a win in the first leg next week."

Thunder were always in charge on Saturday after an explosive first quarter in which they took a 32-19 lead with guards James Brame and Marvin Addy prominent.

They turned round 56-44 ahead, and although Sutton closed to eight behind at one point, were always in control.

Thunder: Hampton 50, Moore 30, Addy 17, Martin 11, Brame 6, Nelson 5, Roche 4, Vingoe 1.

Sutton: Quashie 19, Knight 18, Laws 16, Grey 13, Moore 10, Lloyd 9, Cook 7, Bayliss 6, Jones 2.

Brighton Magic scored a thrilling 68-66 win over previously unbeaten Plymouth in a WNBL contest staged before the Thunder match. Sadie Mason struck one second from time for third-place Magic, whose top scorers were Jo Raper (19), Louise Waghorn (10) and Lyn Powell (10).
