Bobby Zamora has been called up to the England under-21 squad.

He has been named in David Platt's squad of 25 for tomorrow night's international against Portugal at Stoke's Britannia Stadium.

Zamora is one of only three players in the party from outside the Premiership.

Platt said: "Bobby's record over the past two seasons is phenomenal and I'm looking forward to seeing him in training.

"He obviously has a natural talent for finding the back of the net and that is priceless."

Fit-again Manchester United defender Wes Brown and Leeds striker Alan Smith have also been called into the squad which includes Aston Villa's former Albion schoolboy Gareth Barry.

Meanwhile, Zamora has hinted he will still be with Albion in Division One next season.

We revealed on Friday that Albion are lining up another new, long-term contract for their 32-goal hotshot, with an opt out clause to join a Premiership giant.

Zamora said: "You'll have to ask the chairman about contracts. The first I heard about it was in the paper.

"I'll have to sit down with the chairman and gaffer and see what they have got to say. As far as I know I'm staying.

"Hopefully I'll do well in Division One. Next season's target will be exactly the same, ten goals to start off with and any more will be a bonus."

Manager Peter Taylor said: "I'm very confident. He is very important to this club and he is such a sensible boy.

"I want him to stay, he knows that, and he hopefully knows that 12 months in Division One will do him the world of good as well."

Swindon player-coach Neil Ruddock has tipped Zamora for success in the first division.

The ex-England, Tottenham and Liverpool defender said: "Zamora has proved the 30 goals he scored last season were no fluke by doing it again. I believe he can make an impact at the higher level."
