Being a life-long dog lover, I was absolutely horrified to read your article about the Bruce the police dog.
He was trained to work with the police and keep today's unruly thugs in order.
Just because he nipped a badly-behaved youth, he is now dead.
I read about youths smashing up phone boxes and breaking into old ladies' homes and battering them for a few pounds, yet the police can't touch them.
These acts are done on purpose to rob and, if necessary, maim or even kill the elderly.
These deliberate acts of violence are intentionally done so why aren't these people put down?
I have two collies of my own and they have on the odd occasion got a little excited and fought. I didn't take sides and decide to have one put down.
I can't understand why this poor animal, who was only trying to do his job, couldn't have been retired to live with his trainer.
