Hundreds of Albion fans queued for hours today to get their hands on tickets for the Seagulls' final home game against Swindon Town.

The match on April 13 could mean promotion and even the Division Two championship.

Just over 300 tickets were on sale at the club shop in Queen's Road, Brighton, this morning.

Despite fans being limited to two each, the shop sold out after an hour and scores of supporters were left disappointed.

At the queue's height, it stretched right up Queen's Road and up Church Street. Some were queueing from 5.15am.

However 21-year-old student Nick Helspy, at the front of the queue, was not even a Brighton fan.

Nick, from Kingston, Surrey, was waiting with friend Mark Butler, 22, an Albion supporter.

Some of those in the queue came prepared with chairs, playing cards or reading Harry Potter books.

The club's safety officer Richard Hebberd said about 500 tickets were on sale, with the remainder being sold to people phoning or writing.
