The Jewish cemetery in Bear Road, Brighton, is a peaceful and pleasant last resting place for many people.
But it now has bad memories for 68-year-old widow Benita Ferris, who went there to arrange for a headstone to be put on her husband's grave.
During her visit, someone smashed the window of her car and stole her handbag containing cash, credit cards and a diary.
Sadly, the advice must be to all people parking in cemeteries that they should not leave bags and other valuables in places where they can be seen by thieves.
Councils and private firms which run cemeteries will also have to install closed circuit TV and make it more obvious to thieves that they are being watched.
It is a sad commentary on society that these measures are needed but thefts in cemeteries are becoming all too common.
