Charlotte Browning is favourite to win her third national cross country under-15s crown of the season at the All England Schools Championships at Chelmsford on Saturday.

The Chichester High pupil, who has enjoyed success in club and inter counties events, hopes to seal an England spot for the Home Countries International.

Craig Ivemy (Ringmer), sixth in the clubs' championship, has hopes of a medal in the boys' under-17s event.

Meanwhile, Todd Leckie (Hailsham) and Matthew Dumigan (Worthing) dead-heated for first place in the boys' under-15 race at the final Sussex Cross Country League meeting at Ardingly College.

Leckie, runner-up in the Sussex Championships in January, stretched the field at halfway but Dumigan battled back to set up a dramatic finish.

Rowan James (Phoenix), the Sussex Schools junior champion, was third.

Charlotte Best had the most convincing victory, beating Crawley clubmate Sam Webb by more than one minute in the under-17s' race.

Emily Goodall, also Crawley, claimed the under-13s' crown by 50 metres from Charlotte's younger sister Leanne.

Danielle Christmas completed a Crawley hat-trick at under-15s with Cheryl Heath (Hastings) second and Katy Moore (Brighton and Hove) third.
