The countryside holds many delightful surprises for anyone leaving the main road to investigate what lies down winding lanes and my greatest surprise came one day out Hailsham way in a tiny hamlet called Cowbeech.
To my amazement and great delight, I discovered there, in the "middle of nowhere", lives a gentleman (Sam Hobden) with no less than 75,000 old records in stock.
As a collector of old recordings, I could hardly believe my good luck.
On a recent visit to this treasure trove to pick up a Ronnie Hilton greatest hits album, it came as a great delight to learn Ronnie had retired to the area and, until his death a year ago, lived just a mile down the road.
