The distraught family of a teenage girl who went missing one week ago are urging her to come home.

Kelly Hammond, 15, has made three calls to her family, a friend and police since disappearing last Wednesday, saying she was safe and well.

One of the calls, on Sunday evening, was made from a phone box in Wayford Close, Eastbourne.

She was last seen when she left her home in Perth Close, Langley Green, Crawley, with her stepmother who drove her to Three Bridges railway station to get the train to school in Redhill.

She was dropped off at 7.55am but never got to school.

Since then, she has called her parents, a friend and the police reassuring them she was fine, saying she knew she had been reported missing.

It was the second time in just a few weeks she has gone missing. Her mother, who lives in Surrey, called police when she disappeared for a few hours in February.

Acting Sergeant Jon Bryant said: "In spite of having heard from Kelly, her parents are very concerned. We are appealing to her to go to a police station or return home."

Kelly is 5ft 6in with bleached, long hair. She is stocky and wears a nose stud and three or four earrings. She was wearing her Warwick school uniform of a white blouse, black trousers and green blazer. She had other clothes with her in a Nike shoestring rucksack.
