A man was hit by a car after being targeted by the driver.

The victim crashed on to the car's bonnet and was thrown into the air.

He was left with broken bones in a hand and arm as the attacker sped away.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and later released.

The attack happened after a crash in London Road, Brighton, involving the offender and the victim's cars on Saturday at 2.30am.

The offender's pink or purple-coloured Ford Escort cabriolet drove off before insurance details could be exchanged.

The victim later spotted the Escort at the Q8 garage at the junction of the A23 and A27 at Patcham, Brighton.

The aggrieved approached the Escort but it drove off again. He ran to the central reservation to note the car's index number but then saw the Escort being driven towards him.

Inspector Julie Wakeford said: "It appears the Escort was deliberately driven at the victim."

Police are appealing for witnesses.
