Virgin Atlantic has announced its first increase in flights since the terrorist attacks on the United States.

The operator is adding four extra services, including one from Gatwick, to its global routes as the public becomes more confident in air industry since September 11.

Sir Richard Branson's company is also resuming two of its services to the US, which it stopped as demand dropped after the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, in which thousands died.

From July 30 to August 27, Virgin Atlantic will add an additional Tuesday service from Gatwick to Las Vegas, taking the number of weekly flights to the city to three.
