Dame Vera Lynn will join Roger Moore to host the charity premiere of hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Dame Vera, who lives at Ditchling, hopes local theatregoers will dig deep into their pockets and join in the fun at the London premiere.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the United Nations' Children's Fund and the Stars Organisation Supporting Cerebral Palsy.

One of the beneficiaries will be the Dame Vera Lynn School for Children with Cerebral Palsy at Billingshurst.

Dame Vera said: "This promises to be one of the most exciting theatrical occasions of the year and one that will benefit two charities tirelessly working for children's welfare."

The charity premiere will be at the London Palladium on April 9.

The show's cast includes two Sussex 11-year-olds. Harry Smith from Shoreham will play angelic Jeremy Potts and Jade Chaston from Patcham has a part in the chorus.
