An exhibition using newspaper reports and memorabilia will celebrate the centenary of the granting of a Royal Charter to Bexhill.
The exhibition will run throughout the year, from today to December 15, to celebrate the centenary of the granting of the town's Charter of Incorporation.
The grant took place after the accession of King Edward VII but before his coronation.
Bexhill was the first town in his reign to be granted a charter and was the last Sussex town to receive one.
The year 1902 was important to the town because just before the arrival of the charter the first international motoring event to be held in Britain, took place along the resurfaced and realigned cycle track on the De La Warr Parade.
The exhibition at Bexhill Museum, Egerton Road, will endeavour to show aspects of the town 72 years during which it was a borough, through to its existence as part of Rother District Council.
