As a Councillor for both Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs town councils, I have continually voiced my concern regarding the traffic calming there in its present conception.

Pinching in the road causes more hazards by people not knowing whether they can come or go or even trying to beat each other to get through the system.

It causes more hazards by having obstructions in the road which can be very difficult to see. I put this view to Aspen Lewis, which was involved in the planning, to no avail.

The calming I would like to see would be soft cushions across the road allowing traffic to travel in both directions at a safe speed and without hindrance.

The reply I have had from various bodies is the police, ambulance and fire services would be against it.

Places such as Brighton and Rottingdean can have severe traffic calming by hard humps but our children have a right to ride their bikes safely to their schools.

What we have now forces even more traffic on to the A259. If there is a traffic incident at Peacehaven, it can cause complete gridlock.

This traffic calming is an utter disaster and should be completely re-assessed. As a councillor, I have had numerous complaints and can only say I agree with them.
