Sidley turned it on in the second half to beat Littlehampton, then vowed to do the same in the race for the title.

The champions remain 13 points adrift of leaders Burgess Hill going into the second half of the league season.

Sidley player/coach Peter Heritage said: "We usually come good after Christmas. It's too early to concede anything in the title race."

Littlehampton were very lively for 20 minutes but the hosts went ahead 15 seconds into the second half with a classy Owen Ball finish.

Russell Eldridge wrapped up the points after Heritage and Peter Baker had both hit the woodwork.

Speaking straight after the match, Heritage said: "It's up to the whole league to keep Burgess Hill under pressure, not just us.

"At the moment it looks like no one can catch them. How did they get on today?"

The answer was a crushing 6-0 win at Chichester City United which saw the leaders back to their very best.

Clinton Moore's double included a spectacular overhead kick. Ashley Carr (2), Steve Harper and Richard Carter were also on target.

Boss Gary Croydon said: "Chichester are a strong side on their own pitch but we looked firmly back on track.

"Nothing is won in January. The champions are still within striking distance."

Selsey are also 13 points adrift but they had to come from two down to score a first win in three outings.

Paul Smith and Glenn Barlow produced fine finishes for visitors Redhill after Lee Stevens had hit a post for the hosts.

Barry Rishman converted a Jason Read knockdown to put Selsey back in it before the break.

Substitute Darren Lowery then continued his return to full fitness with a sizzling volley to level matters.

Paul Lee settled the contest with two goals and boss Danny Hinshelwood said: "I thought we played some good stuff at times."

Former Havant and Bognor defender Alec Masson made his debut alongside Hinshelwood at the back.

Hailsham are up to fifth after their 4-3 home win over a Wick side whom both bosses agreed were flattered by the result.

Paul Richardson and Danny Brown produced crisp strikes and, when Scott French made it 3-0, the contest looked all over.

Gary Young, revelling in his new midfield role, replied after good work from Gareth Green, then Brett Court headed Wick back into the match.

French beat his man and thrashed home the fourth before Young forced in a near post header for his second.

Hassocks launched a stunning counter attack to set up a precious 2-0 home win over Southwick.

Wickers had plenty of the ball but were caught on the counter after having a corner cleared. Robins broke in numbers and Ashley Low and Joe Fernley set up Micky Turner for the 41st- minute ice-breaker.

Joel Harding impressed in the Hassocks goal and 16-year-old Matthew Simpson made sure of the points with a fine header.
