As our thoughts turn to 2002, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the tremendous support The Argus and its readers have given to the 400 orphaned children of Kabubba village in Uganda.

2001 has been an amazing year as we shared the dreams of a school with a medical clinic and a clean water supply for them and the community.

The response has been far greater than we could have anticipated and has meant a school is planned to open in February 2002, months ahead of our expectations.

£40,000 was needed to start this project and this amount was raised during 2001. Thank you.

2002 approaches with its own challenges. 400 orphans are in need of support for their education, food, healthcare and clothing and they now become our focus.

Most of them live with little hope and little love. They did not choose to become orphaned but they live with the consequences.

Our wish is this new year will bring the orphaned children in Kabubbu, great joy.
