Sussex MPs declared foreign trips, visits to sporting events and even a gift of two Parker Pens in the latest Register of Members' Interests.

The 153-document lists everything from paid directorships to financial help given to MPs contesting the General Election Worthing West MP Peter Bottomley listed "infrequent" payments by the media for libel damages under the section for gifts, benefits and hospitality.

The pens were declared by Norman Baker and were given to him as a gift by Parker, which is based at Newhaven, in his Lewes Constituency.

The Lib Dem MP also listed occasional fees for writing and broadcasting, including fees from the Mail on Sunday for an article published in January and a commission on MI5 and data protection in October.

Brighton Pavilion Labour MP David Lepper declared occasional fees for journalism.

He is also an unpaid trustee of Lighthouse Media Training, Brighton Youth Orchestra and ARDIS, a Brighton based charity for people with Alzheimer's disease.

Kemp Town Labour MP Des Turner said he had nothing to declare while Hove Labour MP Ivor Caplin listed the leasehold of a property used as a hairdressing business and an unpaid position as trustee of the Old Market Trust.

Eastbourne MP Nigel Waterson listed paid work as a consultant to solicitors Messrs Watson, Farley and Williams in London.

He also received a fee of between £1 and £1,000 for membership of the Harris Parliamentary Panel which was paid to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Eastbourne.

The Conservative MP also declared gifts of free membership of a health club and honorary membership of the Baltic Exchange.

East Worthing and Shoreham Tory MP Tim Loughton declared membership of the Harris Parliamentary Panel and MORI Parliamentary Panel, with all fees going to charity.

He listed occasional small fees for lectures and an invitation for a performance at Glyndebourne, for him and his wife, as a guest of Seeboard.

Crawley Labour MP Laura Moffat declared a contribution to her election expenses and the payment of the salary of a research assistant in her office by the All Parliamentary Group on Aids.

Horsham MP Francis Maude, the former shadow foreign secretary, declared paid directorships of the Benfield Group, Dynamis and The Spectator.

The Conservative MP listed overseas visits to Milan to a meeting of the Trilateral Commission and to Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Hastings and Rye Labour MP Michael Foster declared paid consultancy work for solicitors Fynmores of Bexhill-on-Sea.

With his wife, he jointly owns a house that is rented out in St Leonards.

Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP Nick Gibb declared two donations from one of his constituents, Graham Tubb.

The first, £2,000, was made during the last parliament. A second £1,000 gift was made to the Tory MP's "fighting fund" during the election campaign.

Mr Gibb also received a donation of more than 25 per cent of his election expenses from the Churchill Luncheon Club in Chichester.

Bexhill and Battle MP Gregory Barker listed a day at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships when he was a guest of Hawkpoint Partners.

The Conservative MP's wife, Celeste, is a shareholder of a family owned business, Charles Wells Ltd.

Wealden Conservative MP Charles Barker declared a shareholding in and an unpaid post as non-executive chairman of The Agenda Group and a vice-presidency of The Big Issue Foundation.

Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie listed occasional fees for journalism and lecturing.

The Tory MP made two overseas trips, including one to Berlin for a paid speaking engagement for Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale.

Mr Tyrie has a shareholding in Falconland Limited and is a possible beneficiary of a family trust.

Worthing West MP Peter Bottomley declared income from speaking, reading and writing. He also offers advice and deposition on casualty reduction and vehicle risks.

The Conservative MP received a donation of £1,000 from the Westminster Circle to the West Worthing Conservative Fighting Fund. The Circle also gave £2,500 to the West Worthing Conservative Association.

He included "infrequent payments by media or damages or legal costs as a result of writs or other actionable defamation".

Mr Bottomley declared income from house sharing in London and the occasional letting of properties in the Isle of Wight and Surrey.

Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames declared paid roles as chairman of The Framlington Second Dual Trust and The Property Merchant Group.

He also listed paid posts as director of Wiltons Restaurant and as non-executive director of Asprey and Garrard.

Other remunerated employment included the post of senior vice-president at MMC Group and as an adviser on business development to Ivestcorp, Cumulus Systems and Welcome Break.

Under the section for directorships, Arundel and South Downs MP Howard Flight listed the position of joint chairman of Investec Asset Management and the directorship of seven subsidiary and associated companies.

The Conservative MP is also a director of Gulf Overseas Investment Fund, PIMA, Avebury Asset Management, Halliday Flight Halliday, Buyers Guide, Stellar Funds PCC and Gartmore Premier VCT. He is chairman of ACM European Enhanced Income Fund.

He listed assistance on tax computations from a KPMG employee, help in framing the Tory Party's opposition to the Social Security (Share Options) Bill from William Norton and Michael Jacobs and assistance with the Finance Bill 2001 from William Norton.

Mr Flight also included a house and 70 acres of farmland rented in Worcestershire, a 50 per cent interest in a small farmhouse in Tarn, France, a ski chalet in France, and personal residences in Westminster and Arundel.

He declared shareholdings in Halliday Flight Halliday, Updata Software and Software First.
