MONDAY: Boss Peter Taylor brands a report claiming Spurs will sign Bobby Zamora for £5 million next summer as an "absolute load of rubbish."

Taylor says: "There is no agreement between us and any club. He will only be going at the right price at the right time. In my opinion it will not be this season, no way."

Taylor expresses satisfaction with a home tie against Preston in the third round of the FA Cup.

"I think it's a good one, because we are capable on our day of playing like a Division One team."

TUESDAY: New signing Daniel Webb from Southend reveals his desire to force his way into the team.

"I know that is going to be very hard, but it's nice to come into a winning set-up," declares the teenage front man.

"If the manager wants to play me I will be up for it and I think I could do it. I haven't come here just to play reserve football week in and week out."

WEDNESDAY: Albion target staying on top by Christmas.

Stopper Simon Morgan says: "We have got two very important games before Christmas. It would be lovely if we are still heading the table by then."

Morgan's former Fulham team-mate Paul Brooker says: "Psychologically it helps if you are top at Christmas and that is where we want to be.

"If we are looking down on everyone and can keep on rolling like we did last season then we can be there or thereabouts."

THURSDAY: Paul Rolls, manager of Zamora's star-studded Sunday junior side Senrab in East London, reveals he was always destined for the top.

"Bobby was a different grade to anything else up front. The boy was lethal. He had everything, pace, an eye for goal, a good header, passing and composure.

"I would be very surprised if he doesn't make the jump up to a higher level. The boy can go on and earn a good living out of the game."

Peter Harburn congratulates Zamora for breaking the club record he held with three others of scoring in eight successive appearances.

Harburn says: "Well done to him. I hope he goes on to do even better. I would love to see the club get promoted again."

Kerry Mayo (knee) and Gary Hart (dead leg) struggle to make the Reading game.

FRIDAY: Shock for Albion's fans as the clash with Reading is called off in mid-afternoon. The Withdean pitch, sheltered from the sun by trees and nearby hills, is declared frozen by Lewes based ref Steve Tomlin.
