Lewes gained three more precious Division Two points when they came from behind to beat Hungerford Town 3-2 at the Dripping Pan.

This was after a second half hat-trick from Sam Francis.

Hungerford went ahead three minutes before the break when a free-kick on the edge of the area by Marc Rivers took a slight deflection off the defensive wall and deceived Lewes goalkeeper Michael Lidbury.

On 62 minutes a rejuvenated Lewes equalised when an excellent cross from Paul Stokes was expertly headed past Elliott Jackson by Sam Francis.

However a quick break by Hungerford's Andy Philpott on 68 minutes saw him put Hungerford back in front.

Lewes were not to be denied and seven minutes later a superb curling shot by substitute Andy Johnson rebounded off the post and fell for Francis to calmly beat Jackson and claim his second.

Eight minutes from time a low cross by Johnson on the left was finished off at the near post by Francis.

An extra time goal from Michael Gorman sent Worthing out of the Isthmian League Cup after Yeading edged a 3-2 in last night's second round tie.

Matt Miller capitalised on slack Worthing marking to give Yeading the lead after seven minutes from a cross by Errol Telemaque.

Rebels levelled through a penalty from Gavin Geddes eight minutes later after keeper Matt Hobson brought down Ben Carrington.

A fine looping header by Wesley Lopez gave Worthing the lead from Darren Baxter's free kick on 21 minutes, but Miller again cashed in on poor defending to equalise seven minutes before the break. Gorman drove in the winner from 12 yards.

CHICHESTER striker Jamie Laidlaw made a stunning debut for Sussex, scoring all four goals as the county sunk the Royal Navy 4-1 in last night's South Western Counties Championship match at Portsmouth.

Laidlaw was one of several new faces drafted in at the last minute after ten players from boss John Suter's original squad dropped out.

Laidlaw scored twice in each half, the pick of his goals coming when he lobbed the keeper from 35 yards.

Suter said: "It's been unbelievably hectic in terms of preparation with all the players dropping out, but the lads who came in did an outstanding job. All in all it was a very satisfying night."
