It would appear the Reverend John Webster (Letters, December 6) believes in demons.

Does he also believe in the Devil? If he does, which does he believe is the more powerful?

It cannot be his God because all he seems to want is to be with victims rather than stop them becoming victims.

It must, therefore, be the Devil in view of all the evil there is in the world today.

Some would have that evil is in mankind. But did not their god make mankind in his own image? If he did, perhaps the Devil has taken over and we are all destined for the fiery pit of hell.

When there is an earthquake (an act of God?) and thousands of people are killed, it always annoys me that when someone is pulled alive from the rubble they say "God was looking after them", conveniently forgetting the thousands he didn't save.

Mr Webster will, of course, say his God was "with the victims".

If that is the case, his God must be working overtime in view of the victims he has had to "be with" in the past 100 years alone.

I do not believe there is a God or a Devil. I do believe there is both good and evil in mankind.

I also believe that each of us has a duty to each other to be good and root out the bad.

However, you do not have to believe in God or any religion to do that.
