The debate on a proper bus and coach station for Brighton and Hove has been going for well over 50 years.

No suitable site has yet been found and any proposal put forward has been quickly dropped in the face of opposition - a common phenomenon in the city.

Imagine my surprise, when travelling in Europe, to find the solution was to build a coach park underground.

Many continental cities have done so rather than placing a station miles out of the centre.

The solution for this city would be to build a new coach station beneath the Level in central Brighton.

This is the entrance to the city and is in a central location.

With the Government's new approach to public transport, I believe this scheme would be supported by grants from central funds.
